FINITE VERB AND NON FINITE-VERB

 














WHAT IS FINITE VERB?

A Finite-Verb is limited or controlled by person (First Person, Second Person, Third Person), number of the subject and changes its forms according to tenses.




























WHAT IS NON-FINITE VERB?

A Non-Finite verb is not limited or controlled by person, number of the subject, therefore called the verb infinite or simply the Infinitive.












More examples of Infinitive:

To err is human.
They like to play cricket.
The child was about to cry.
Her habit is to dream in the office.
The students are anxious to know the marks.
She tried to get everyone's sympathy.
We saw him dance.




More examples of Present Participle functioning as an Adjective:
The creaking door awakened me.
A lying witness should be punished.
Education is the most pressing need of the time.
A rolling stone seemed to be heavy.
I saw a girl dancing in the hall.


More examples of Gerund:
Rahul hates travelling.
We are sorry for troubling you.
Watching a drama is interesting.
My sister loves singing.
They have stopped running.
He tried walking.
She is fond of singing.
